I am not too much of a ww2 buff despite having a weird aspie special interest for Nazis (despite also being a lazy fuck and not really diving too much into it which I wish I could if I had the time) but yes the Americans did not want to interfere, IMO Japan costed the Nazis the war. If they successfully pushed out the Allies out of Asia and focused on the USSR they would be done for since the eastern front of Russia has way less men.
