A coworker recently took 3 days off for an unexpected medical condition flare up and got raked over the coals for it

Everyone is also a hyper NT gossip girl and notices and will mention every little deviation from the norm

Yea it’s fucking laughable to think I can just dip for a month to go get a Trimax or OBO while a lowly trades apprentice

Gotta wait till I graduate in 2029 and consequently have a license and skill set independent of any specific program or company AND have a fuck load of savings

Rip to the rest of my 20s but this is the only way

No it’s rather throwing my fucking career in the toilet and blowing my life savings on a surgery gamble

I need to be in a position where that doesn’t completely torpedo my life before I’m okay with going under the knife

i mean its one thing if your work schedule literally doesn't give you the time to take off and you dont have the money

The money: yes, eventually, enough before 2029. 30k and counting currently

The time: on paper yes. There’s nothing stopping me from simply saying “hey in X months I will be out of work for Y weeks”. But as an apprentice you do NOT have:

a license and skill set independent of any specific program or company

So you have to stay in the good graces of your overlords until that is the case and risking said grace is not as big of a deal for your future

And given:

Weeks and weeks off for a COSMETIC, elective invasive surgery would be completely out of the question

I suspected that this would end up being the case when I first went down this route, but had hopes there would be a way around it or some general laxity. But I have found time and time again that that is not the case at all. You’re expected to lick that boot and be thankful for it, otherwise there’s a million other guys lined up ready to take your place in a heartbeat

I mentioned the potential (guaranteed) clowning to highlight just how easy it is to sour a reputation

I have no entrepreneurial ventures, no college degree, no high IQ or inherited wealth or anything else to make this situation more tenable. My current path is as good at it will get

If they are going to blackball you for taking a month off for any reason, then it sounds like you don't actually have the time... Otherwise you could literally just lie

taking even 10 days off from work is unheard of where im at fortunately for me, im quitting my fuckass job in a month and can fully focus on completing my ascension plan

To phrase it better, it’s not about actually having the time, but rather about being able to weather the consequences from taking that time whether they like it or not

As for lying, I’m about as good at that as early seasons Walter White so prob not

taking even 10 days off from work is unheard of where im at fortunately for me, im quitting my fuckass job in a month and can fully focus on completing my ascension plan
