it sucks, just don't let it seep into your finances. My mom and her sister (aunt) sold grandmas house to pay for her moving into a old folks home. We are talking about a mid century modern home on 1.5 acres, that they sold to pay for assisted living, instead of just having her move in.

I will not make that mistake.

Be careful with all-nighters. I’ve done hundreds of them, resulting in 30+ hours of staying awake each time.

I’m so fucked I can never go to a normal sleeping routine now. I can never adjust to a 9-5 life.

I recently did an internship at a nursing home. It’s full of people with conditions like Alzheimer’s. My mom is 43, and it actually got me thinking about what would happen if that happened to her. Scary shit.

Assisted Living is much better than nursing homes, but they cost a fortune. Destroying your finances to make parents who never prepared more comfortable is not something I would do.

Luckily my folks have pensions and 401ks so it likely wont be an issue but my grandma (born in 1938, and African American) wasn't so lucky
