Explain this - why when I'm sick do I genuinely get so many compliments on it: older women saying I sound like Barry White, younger women getting flustered/responding much better to me when I address them, but normally I feel like my voice is failo. Something about inflamed vocal chords somehow removes all nasally tones and makes me sound 1000x more sexy and mysterious.

Had the same exact experience. Had that boyish voice when young (still do) and once I came to work sick and my voice had lowered by like 25%. Suddenly all the women at work started paying attention. They were like "oh wow, what's up with your voice", but in a way that made them seem intrigued, like it was a good thing. I felt good at that point, wished I could sound like that all the time. My vocal chords were fucked
