Tbh you are a adult at 16. Most people nowadays are getting older and maturing faster. Even children are being exposed to porn, sex, drugs at like age 10. All of these jbs be like 13 dressing like they are 21. Not to mention that women develop much quicker than boys so this is especially true for females. At 16 you already have seen it all, know the consequences of your actions, know about sex etc. imo theres little to no difference between you at 16 and you at 18

50 years ago the word teenager didn't exist. You were a young adult/man/woman.

It makes sense cuz naturally u hit puberty in Ur mid to early teens and that's when u start having children
