But why here? Is it the vanity? Are gays more vain in general? I mean I guess they are.

Other (possible) explanations:

• People are more open about it on an anonymous forum
• It's fringe and people on the fringes of society are more likely to be gay
• They're drawn here because it's a male dominated space (females not allowed at least in principle)
