Just lol at buying into this meme. I use to believe in the myth that for profit enterprise was 10x better than public industry for the longest time largely because all the propaganda about communism failing etc. However the more you learn the more you start questioning shit.
For example, my country has nationalized energy. If free market theory and anti-state industry propaganda was true it would be expensive and a huge piece of shit. It isn't, and in fact is some of the cheapest in the world. Turns out the people working at the dams & power plants just show up for work like everybody else and don't care if it's the government that is paying them or somebody else. And of course our politicians are now trying to sell it all away despite their being no obvious benefit in doing so.
Another example is our nation's alcohol stores. Government has a monopoly on alcohol so for profit parties can't sell it except at bars and some places where you can eat. So it must be a huge piece of shit right? Nope. Selection is decent and the price (not counting the tax) markup is considerably lower than it is at stores. How strange?And then there is healthcare. Granted universal healthcare has many flaws yes but just lol if you think getting raped by the American system is superior just lol.
But what about shitholes like Venezuela and Zimbabwe you ask? They are shitholes right?
Yes, but not for the reasons you are told. Thing is, Venezuela and Zimbawbe were/are not socialist states to begin with since industry wasn't nationalized. Basically they had a market economy and then decided to implement insane bullshit like endless money printing and price controls that destroyed their economy. They did not adopt soviet style command economy. Basically they just had a market economy combined with very shitty fiscal policy. Yet they are called socialism for some reason. lol.
Soviet Union with 95+ IQ & nationalized industry > Third world shitholes with sub-90 IQ and market economy+bad fiscal policy
