Let’s say you did a 8cm femur extension… at a 0.75mm a day increase which is fairly high it would take 3.5 months of increasing plus a week you wait after getting the nails put in. I’m not 100% sure what the recovery period is like so you have to take that into consideration as well

No not for internal nails they don’t keep you hospitalised very long, you just need to be nearby for regular checkups during the dissection phase. I.e if you go overseas you’re gonna be shacked up in a nearby hotel for more than half a year.
