I guess for me it’s a coin flip. If I acknowledge there’s a god and there is one, I’ll more than likely be accepted whereas I don’t believe and there is a god, I might suffer consequences.

If I choose to believe and there isn’t one, nothing happens. If I don’t and there isn’t one, nothing happens.

Knowing is just belief backed by strong evidence, its not the opposite of belief, its a stronger form of it. And plenty of real things aren't directly observable, you believe the sun will rise tomorrow, you believe your reasoning is reliable, you believe the past actually happened, those are beliefs backed by strong evidence, that's still belief. And comparing God to water assumes God would have to be the kind of thing you observe directly for it to be reasonable to believe in, like a physical object sitting in front of you. But plenty of things you accept as real aren't directly observable either, gravity, your own mind, laws of logic for ex.
