Watch random movies from the 90's and 00's and you'll see many hot women coupled with average looking men. Last one I watched was prime Jennifer Connelly coupled with Frank Whaley in Career Opportunities. Or plenty of comedies in which the nerd gets the stacy. I think the last big movie in which a female stacy got coupled with an average looking guy was Transformers with prime Megan Fox and Shia Lebeouf.

Nowadays post-prime becky Natalie Portman gets coupled with a demi-god like Chris Hemsworth as love interest. Or the ugly indian girl from Netflix serie 'Never Have I Ever' gets coupled with the high school chad. Or the netflix movie 'Tall Girl' in which the ugly tall girl gets the blonde male model. I believe movie makers understand that with modern hypergamy the male has to look better than the female to be a realistic couple.

I don’t watch many movies with heavy romance elements but even I can tell you are right about how looks matched couples are shrinking and couples where men look worse are rare now.

On the opposite side I guess with most couples male does look better now.

Brutal.So does hollywood adjust to reality or do they set expectations foook??
