Someone asked the same thing on realself and the answer was "when we advance the mandible some of us do agument the width at the angles at the same time with implants, one doesn't do it altering the osteotomy because that is less effective and could injure the tmj"

A BSSO can widen the gonials to a certain extend but ONLY when it's performed according to Obwegesers method. That being said, if you're a giga subhuman you will need an additional side wing.

But Bimax with 2 piece lefort 1 and BSSO Obwegeser style combined with a side wing and chin shield osteotomy will do magic to any jaw.
