How fast you should cut will depend on how much muscle mass you have. You don't look like you lift with your shirt on. If you want a conservative cut, aim to lose 0.5% of your body weight per week. At 220 lbs, aim for a ~551 daily calorie deficit by my math.

I work manual labor and i'm on low dose anavar. This weight is typical for professional football players.

You do have fat in the mid section. But you're on roids so if you go into a modest calorie deficit (-0.5% body weight per month. Eat 551 calories under your maintenance now) and lift (focus on the heavy compound lifts) you will retain a good deal of muscle mass while shedding body fat quickly. Female gaze is more so muscle mass rather than being lean so I wouldn't pay too much attention to the leanmaxxing autists on the forum. this is not a leanmaxxed physique, but a skinny fat physique. looking like at least 15% bf. just make sure you don't gain any fat and get more muscle by working out 4 times a week minimum. in a few years you will look better.

Cutting carbs and sodium is just going to reduce water retention. If that doesn't do the trick then you just need to go into a calorie deficit. Don't worry too much about carbs. Low-carb is a meme. You mostly just need to pay attention to your protein intake, lift (focus on heavy compound lifts) and your calorie intake. You don't necessarily have to count calories though. You could just weigh yourself regularly to tell if you are losing weight or not. Day-to-day fluctuations in weight are inevitable and nothing to be alarmed about though when looking at the scale.
Not sure about your age but this is what macros should look like for a 18 year old 6'4" 220 lb guy whose trying to lose 1 lb/week. If you're older than that, then the carbs and fats would be less.
Protein: 180g
Carbs: 218-245g
Fat: 46-58g
Calories: 2,068 (8,654 KJ)

Obviously there's also going to be individual variation in your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). These macro calculators are just a guideline. I burn calories very fast and I'm a 37 year old natty gymcel. lmfao. Repairing and building muscle tissue is a very calorie intensive process.

The reason why low-carb is a fad is because your water weight drops when you go into a low-carb diet. I lost 41.8 lbs (168.2 lbs -> 126.4 @ 5'6") eating a high-carb diet. This whole insulin resistance thing is bullshit. I did cut out sugar from my diet in the beginning. So if you're insulin resistant or diabetic, then glycemic index might matter in the beginning. But I was able to lose weight just fine eating complex carbohydrates. And some of the carbs I was eating then probably still had a high glycemic index anyways.

Now that I'm bulking, I give zero fucks and just go strictly by macros. Today I ate Ben & Jerry's ice cream, a Drumstick ice cream cone, coconut chocolate, 62ml of French Vanilla creamer in the morning in my coffee. Going to have a Melona ice cream bar later. My secret is that I eat 1.8g protein per kg of bodyweight per day, focus on compound lifts and I just aim for a certain amount of calories. I don't pay attention much to carbs and fats. But I'm getting plenty of both probably anyways. Ice cream, chocolate, creamer has both a good amount of carbs and fat I think. Carbohydrates all turn into glucose at the end of the day. So I might as well eat my favourite carbohydrate: sugar. I like bread, pasta, rice and potatoes too. Fatty cooking oils with my rice, pasta and potatoes (fries). Peanut butter (fat) with bread (carbs). Not a big fan of nuts. But I like milk chocolate covered peanuts and almonds (carbs and fat).

Only diabetic people who don't lift or do intense cardio need to worry about sugar or high glycemic index carbohydrates. Diabetes Canada endorses this drink called Glucerna for diabetic people. That includes 26.7g carbs (5.6g fibre) per 225 calorie serving. And the very first ingredient is corn maltodextrin fibre. Maltodextrin releases into your blood stream faster than sugar. I can't take Diabetes Canada seriously after that. Diabetes is a scam. I think people just need to fucking lift or do intense cardio to make use of the carbs they put in their body. The reason why people are getting diabetes is because they eat too many calories or they are skinnyfat people who live sedentary lifestyles and eat too many carbohydrates (likely the fast-release ones) while doing so.
