Ya, in college getting lucky with the right friends got me way further than any looksmaxxing ever would. But then it was kinda over for me when I left my college town, and really over since the pandemic destroyed the beginnings of a new social circle I had. Proximity is the only natural way to meet girls and maybe this is just me but especially if you have success with it anything else just wouldn't feel right, even if I could consistently slay off of OLD I wouldn't want to, bars and clubs maybe but you kinda need a social circle for that too.
