Well, in what are you gonna store stuff: drinks, food, etc.?
Here in Romania, back in the communist era, we didn't have plastic yet and glass was expensive, so when you bought milk, beer, jars with food, etc. you had to bring your own empty bottles and jars and give them in return, every person had to keep an assorted collection of various types of glass bottles and jars at home, it was pretty annoying...
