easier to bookmark, have some interactivity, they scale better depending on screen size, plus smaller file size (pdfs are retardedly large for no reason, plus they have no format uniformity)
I believe azw3 is encrptyed with Amazon's software, essentially an epub with a DRM
edit: you can customize the fonts/page/etc they're great for handicap or visually impaired. overall a mogger format unless you need a lot of images instead of unicode
