This might be a dubious claim, but I also think there's a component of fear in not wanting or having deep, engaged, and nuanced conversations. This forum's very nature makes people averse to revealing more about themselves, resulting in a lower volume of interesting knowledge being passed around. An agora isn't an agora without people and ideas to feed it.

Not only that, but they're scared of getting doxxed. They're afraid of the chances of people maliciously revealing their identity in a bad light. The thing is, if you're a decent person on here, people won't try to doxx you anyway. There's a reason none of the forum chads have gotten into trouble irl (yet). Heck, I post myself quite a bit but I've barely seen it thrown around like some other people's are.

Forum Chads post for the dopamine rush from the meat riders. Amnesia and Salludon get praised way more here than they would in day to day life. So that’s why all good looking users post their face, not one hides it. They can’t help themselves.

Yes. Also, learning is painful because it presupposes being willing to be have been wrong, to admit that a previously held standpoint was incorrect, and that's often unpleasant.

Another thing is that it's comfortable, in the moment, to blame everything on something else. There's a certain comfort in feeling like the victim, but it's short-lived and bad for you overall (just like snacks, drugs etc.). If you admit that the real picture is that some of it is your fault, something is other people's fault and something is just bad luck you don't feel the same "right" to complain and satisfaction when saying "fuck absolutely everyone and everything". People also over-exaggerate how ugly/unlucky they are, how bad they've been treated etc. to feel special and to keep their "right" to stay in misery.
