So about 2 centuries ago you could literally just put a girl in a bag, take her to your home and marry her and if she refuses to do so then she would be shamed very hard by society. It even happens nowadays in very undeveloped villages but it's pretty rare. Also, despite being shamed by society my grandma literally runaway from the deformed subhuman she should have been married to(and I'm glad that she did) so no arranged marriage for your subhumanity.

bride kidnapping is more about not paying dowries than anything. I always joke about kidnapping uigur milfs from teahouses but this shit is a meme, its not reality. In kazakh china, arranged marriages are not even a thing even though I think they are generally very beneficial for society.
