Is this a good side hustle?

I’m a pretty good graphic designer on photoshop, I’ve made a couple YouTube thumbnails for my friends that in my opinion are pretty good. I work a job right now during the summer and make good money but I can only work during the summer… my parents have made a rule that I cannot work during school so I can focus on my studies. As a side hustle I was thinking I can produce YouTube thumbnails for clients.

Yes it can be, but you're gonna have to be different than the norm to be successful.

The main challenge isn’t the skill itself it’s getting consistent clients. A lot of beginners assume they’ll just list services and get buyers, but in reality you usually need to actively reach out to YouTubers and build a portfolio that shows clear improvement/results. Improvement whether it is before and after of thumbnails or views metrics (Your thumbnails helped the person increase their views by 30% for example or something along those lines, just an example)

You could possibly partner up with a YouTuber who outsources their thumbnails (a lot of them do) and sometimes even bundles (offering multiple thumbnails/video or weekly/monthly packages) Small and mid-sized creators especially are often looking for help but don’t always hire professional designers. They're also easier cause they usually aren't sought out for by people who do thumbnails like you cause theyre "too small" (theyre not they earn at 1k subs and 4k watch hours in 90 days)

Tldr : Yes, but YOU will have to reach out to them. If this is unideal for you then maybe another side hustle would be better.

I will take this into consideration. Do you have any other side hustles to recommend?

not good unless you have a portfolio or a long term contract with big creators, prices of thumbnails became low anyways unless you make super professional ones and have high ticket clients

That depends on how much time you have to learn something new, what you already know and capital (the amount of money you have).

You can google or ask AI about some

Feel like the amount of ai tools right now will really lower peoples demand for something like this
