Zeke Jaeger’s Euthanization Plan would work very well for modern society and could create a world with greatly reduced suffering in day to day life and better quality of life for everyone.
The Plan
Zeke’s original plan was to use the power of the Founding Titan to erase the ability to reproduce from the Eldian people, as he believes Eldians and Titans were the source of the world’s war and political restlessness.
He believed by erasing their ability to reproduce, the world would become peaceful and better after they all died (including himself).
Modern Adaptation
Of course, in our world there is no such thing as Eldians so they cannot be the source of the world’s unhappiness, but suppose that the Founding Titan’s power DID exist.
It should be used to remove the ability to reproduce from all ugly people and those who would pass on bad genetics that would then cause the children to live lives of suffering.
This plan would be painless but there are some downsides:
- Beauty standards change. Yes, there will always be objective standards based on biology and our evolution, but there are aspects based on things like status indication. This is why being slim is seen as more attractive now compared to 500 years ago.
- Current ugly people, including myself, would suffer, as they would not be able to reproduce (if they are lucky enough to receive that opportunity in the first place, unlikely).
- Attractive people are not guaranteed to have attractive children, which could ruin the entire plan.
However, if the affected people are chosen based on the objective aspects of beauty then it would result in much better quality of life for everybody within 100 years, as these objective attractive traits will never change or be viewed differently.
Yes, new standards would be created and new “ugly” people would exist, but these would only be based on the other aspects of beauty and not the unchanging ones, so the world would not be nearly as bad.
The fact that an ugly child could still be born of attractive parents makes this plan unlikely to work though, but it doesn’t matter because the Founding Titan could just make them attractive anyway by changing physical traits
