TLDR PLEASE if you cba reading allat just read red and pics and tell me if you would get an early revision
I got a sliding genio (H 10.4 mm & V 3.6 mm) + rhinoplasty done exactly 1 month ago
I’m making this thread because I feel like the SG made my chin noticeably asymmetrical/crooked. My surgeon said it’s the swelling that is asymmetrical and that it will look ok once it resolves. So i got a 2nd opinion from an asian OFMS and he, looking at my cone beam, explained how my surgeon did a very clean job, but that my chin was asymmetrical to begin with and by giving it more projection I might notice it more.
Fair enough, if I look at pre-op pictures now I can (kinda?) find the asymmetry if I look for it very closely. On the other hand, those pre-op pics are frauded because I compensated by moving my chin forward, which according to chatgpt is a good sign bc i was basically simulating a straight genio, but the asian ofms said it can still look different (i suppose because genio only moves chin and what i used to do was move everything forward as a unit). But now I feel like I’m legit deformed and it’s all I can think about 24/7 (i have taken over 200 photos of my chin in the past couple weeks). If it's temporary, then idgaf. But if my chin looks like this in 12 months I think it's over and ropemaxx material.
This is a critical period in time because the earlier you do a revision, the easier it is (bone hasn’t formed yet so he would basically just have to unscrew and rescrew). BTW does anyone have any idea why, if the chin was asymmetrical to begin with, a surgeon wouldn’t just make it symmetrical as part of the procedure? Shouldn’t it be a given, or do you really have to think about everything and leave nothing to chance when you’re hardmaxxing? I didn’t know I was asymmetrical so I never thought to say “hey btw make it symmetrical” SMFH. Frustrating too because he’s obviously very skilled as I had absolutely zero side effects from the moment I came to, shit pre-op I was so busy worrying and asking him about nerve damage this and fucked up smiles that and numbness and etc (fuck you reddit) that it never even crossed my mind to tell him oh yeah btw nigga also make it look good from the front lmao
I admit I do have body dysmorphia to a pretty severe degree so I’m really not sure if I’m overreacting or not.
Could some of you please tell me if my chin symmetry is cooked, and to what degree (i.e. would you in my position go through a revision?). Swelling resolution might improve things a little but the second OFMS said he didn’t find me particularly swollen. It was an autistic asian though so he couldn’t just be a normie and tell me hey it looks fine you’re overreacting or yeah get a revision you got cooked, just very matter-of-fact and neutral so it really didn’t help me make a decision. I’m getting a 3rd opinion next week, I wanted to get at least 5 different opinions but they’re all telling me go to your surgeon out of etiquette or something.
First, here is my before and after side profile, even if I don't think it's relevant to this thread.
NOTE that this before picture was strictly taken for the purpose of comparison, but that nobody has ever seen my profile be that subhuman IRL because I would fraud 24/7 by advancing my lower teeth by 50 miles. As far as I know, nobody around me ever noticed I had a weak chin (I'm so mentally ill I wouldn't even chew gum around people). btw I was doing that unconsciously since I was a kid/teenager, I only became conscious of it a few years ago and mainly got the surgery because I thought it'd be a relief to not have to force my lower teeth forward anymore. So for this reason, as of right now, I prefer pre-op + frauding (with new nose obv) over post-op + crookedness. So please don't use the side profile to say it was a good trade-off, I will never see it that way because I used to fraud beyond the level it's at now even.
Now here are some pre-op pictures of my chin from the front, where I don't notice the asymmetry, or if I look very hard for it it doesn't bother me.
and this is now post-op how my chin looks very crooked:
and this is if I stretch my skin / make faces, looks a bit better which I think is a positive sign that it might get better as swelling resolves (but I'm still very worried because the gook doctor said he didn't see a lot of swelling).
Also I think you can see that in some of my post-op pics my left cheek seems more hollow than the right, which I guess could be a good sign that the right side of my face as a whole is more swollen? And now that I think about it, my nose post-rhino is more swollen on my right side (the rhino surgeon told me he would improve the symmetry of the nose so I'm not worried about the nose tbh, just making an observation in relation to the chin, but idk maybe it's cope)
SO:
would YOU, 1 month PO, in my position, get on a plane right now and ask for a revision? NB The asymmetry was already there and I saw it myself on the CT scan, but I think it's a normal level of asymmetry which people don't notice and which is why I never noticed it before... my concern is that the advancement of the chin might make that asymmetry very obvious but I honestly dk if I'm overreacting or not. So, to be clear, I'm not worried that my surgeon created a new asymmetry, I'm worried that he made it obvious to everyone, and it blows my mind that correcting it was not part of his plan. According to the 2nd opinion OFMS, my surgeon did a perfectly straight and parallel advancement, so technically the bone symmetry was unchanged, but he said the advancement itself can change how it's perceived.
Positive signs / cope:
Negative signs / concerns:

Positive signs / cope:
- 2nd OFMS confirmed my surgeon did a clean, straight advancement
- chatgpt says that when i used to fraud i was basically simulating a straight advancement
- looking at my old photos, where i frauded beyond the 10 mm advancement i got, there was no noticeable asymmetry (idk if the 3.6 mm vertical plays a role though)
- when i stretch my skin or make faces, it looks ok, maybe another sign that it’s mostly swelling?
- right side of my nose and of my face as a whole seem more swollen
- surgeon doesn’t seem like a total retard (over 50% of his practice is genio, he just spams them everyday and i had zero side effects from the moment i woke up) and since SG is a cosmetic procedure, seems unlikely that a skilled surgeon would just overlook a huge asymmetry from the front, right?
- when i brought it up to my surgeon he seemed very confident that it was just soft tissue swelling and that it would be like pre-op in the end… when asked if that type of oversight where i end up asymmetrical could happen to him, he basically replied “nigga please”
Negative signs / concerns:
- my cone beam ct shows that my chin was objectively asymmetrical and that asymmetry was not addressed at all as my surgeon just moved it forward and parallel
- i remember looking at that bone asymmetry in the scan and thinking, how the hell could that not be obvious to the human eye? apparently it can though since it was my pre-op…
- gook said he didn’t find me very swollen at 3 weeks PO, and he says that my frauding before might not be an accurate representation of my surgery result
- i don’t see any improvement in the last 2 weeks
