If you just do cable crunches which are the only ab exercise you need your hitting your abdominal muscles. Training your abdominals won’t make your waist wider, I’m assuming your talking about your obliques witch actually do make your waist a bit wider.when you train abs your not literally training abs your training your waist making it wider
