I think goateed shape the face. Short on cheeks and longer on chin provides an almost completely new face shape.

When you have a full even beard or stubble the hair is growing out at the same length universally so all of the features are growing in equal proportions

I agree somewhat.

A full beard looks like an old man and stubble doesn’t provide much of any facial alterations.

The goatee still looks youthful but alters the face significantly
