A lot of my life I've been someone who didn't work hard, yet cared too much about the result

In the Bhagvat Gita (Hindu text) or really any level headed, successful person would say:

Learn to work hard, take right action, but be unattached to the result. Don't fixate on the result or need it too much.

Most of my life, and especially the last 10 years, I've been the oppostive. I've cared too much about the result, made it more than it really is, obsessed....yet wasn't able to work hard. I shied away from the hard, dilligent work required. Yet then I'd grow even more obsessed with result and fantasize, and my work ethic got poorer.

2023 is the year I turn this around. I'm going to put in the work diligently, all the while detaching myself from the result- it doesn't matter one way or the other.

Well said. I was watching a football game yesterday and after the game the coach said he didn't care about results or trophies, just the performance of the team, that's the most important part.

It's a travesty that I've been on this site 3 years, don't work full time yet am not gymcelling fulltime

I should literally be lifting weights 4-6 times a week and eating perfectly, dedicating a lot of my energy to that

Would triple my SMV realistically.

same, filled with quarter life crisis/ oldcel regrets. Trying to ignore them and just look ahead now. But yeah, been around these sites since 2016, hair regrowth is the only good thing that came out of it but apart from that, only wasted time lamenting over mundane shit and being a misanthropist and dumpster diving for validation. Career wise, could have moved out of India by now with a $150k+ career and an ivy league masters if played the cards right. Could have travelled more, had more enriching experiences and holistic growth, even if not getting laid, at least built some social capital. So much could have been done, 27 is a bit late but can still turn things around I guess.

I did this my whole life

learning now

really you gotta not attach meaning to the result

truth is- you are the same soul right now as you'll always be

that success isn't going to change your mental state if you don't like yourself already

have to truly believe it doens't matter

if u don't feel like that right now, keep going in the right direction- you'll reach that point

this past year I struggled and suffered to achieve the mental state I'm starting to feel now

I remember at 27 thinking 'it's too late, I'm old now'. 34 tomorrow and now I see 27 was a golden opportunity. Still extremely young, I honestly mean it. 20s is ridiculously young. Life doesn't even become serious until you start approaching mid 30s.

This is a great insight. One good post in this cesspool of autists.
