I'm starting to believe that a deep voice is the result of thick vocal chords (testosterone plays a partial role here) and healthy lung function. Would only make sense from an evolutionary perspective that deep voices are attractive to women because good lung function = more oxygen = more physical resilience = higher chances of survival etc.

Higher pitched sound is much more audible to the human ear. Humans are adapted in this way so that they can hear a female/child scream from far away. If you have a higher pitched voice, it basically suggests you are prey and cannot look after yourself
