Okay so just to set a timeline i started both isotretinoin and topical minoxidil for severe acne and androgenic alopecia in January of 2024.

As of the last test i have 30 nmol/L testosterone with a fairly high 22% body fat at that time so with proper body fat even higher naturally. From both sides of my family i inherited early AGA. I added oral finasteride by the end of february, temples fully regrew after 4-5 months so around May.

After i stopped accutane because my cycle was over (i took daily 2x20mg for 6 months) after a month or so in around august my temples went back to baseline even though i didn’t change dose or treatment.

There are 2 important facts to mention:
1. Temples have high DHT enzyme type I and type II activity
2. Accutane lowers Type 1 5α-reductase activity by ~50–70% in the skin

My theory is that accutane actually could have strongly contributed to my full temple recovery by blocking type 1 dht while finasteride blocked type 2, pretty much what just doing dutasteride would have done. While the thinned crown and frontal scalp fully recovered on fin temple relapse perfectly aligned with the discontinuation of accutane. 2 weeks ago started dutasteride so will see if my temples gets fully fixed or not.

TLDR: Accutane could indirectly help with temple regrowth in early stages of androgenic alopecia by blocking type I enzyme in the temples

Also night help by just inducing collagen synthesis which can help regrowth and thicker strands

Retinols have already been documented to help hair regrowth. People use it for brows and it helps those with inflammatory hair loss. It unironically did More for me then minoxidil. Weak mild dht inhibition, boost cell turnover and stops follicular plugs from forming. Tretinoin the most powerful one, works great for ann efficacy boost of topical min.

Yea i mean some studies suggest that it can cause shedding but for me it could have been the opposite. Anyways right now i’m taking dut 0.5 daily 5mg oral min and 10mg accutane thrice a week, my temples are thin as fuck, could be month 2 shedding from dut if this won’t regrow it then its time to turkeymax, we’ll see in 6 months

what do you expect with fin, it doesnt regrow shit in most cases. if you wont to regrow maximum on DHT blockers alone, hop on 2.5 mg dutasteride. i did, now just gotta wait

Ive been on 0.5 dut since the 1st of february. So far got a massive shed now it calmed down but no regrowth yet. My DHT is 50ng/l so this will hopefully do it, if no i go to 1mg and if thats still not enough then atleast I stablized and get a small HT. I’m not on test so hopefully it is enough lmao
