What are the downsides of Accutane?

My doctor suggested that I get some tests done and start a course of Accutane for 9 months or longer.
What are the disadvantages and side effects of Accutane?
Will my growth plates close, will my growth slow down, and will my final height be shorter?

I am currently 17 years old.

The only side effects will be dry skin/lips and a small chance to damage your liver. There is no way it could close your growth plates or make you shorter.
