Accutane and premature epiphyseal closure
Accutane is an acne-treating drug that is presented as the golden drug, but is it?
Accutane, summarized, is synthetic vitamin A, usually going from 10k iu to 25k iu depending on dosage
But modern science has proven that high vitamin A levels, like Accutane, have a moderate correlation with premature epiphyseal closure
Yet mainstream science either says one of two things. Accutane has no direct correlation with premature epiphyseal closure or it has a slight correlation with premature epiphyseal closure. Both are technically wrong
Accutane certainly does have a higher probability of causing growth plates to mature early than what is told by mainstream media and dermatologists today.
While we may not know why we are lied to, a very big probability is big pharma's influence on studies through funding and pay-outs, and the media's "factual opinion" on Accutane.
More proof(important)
Synthetic vitamin A in Accutane affects the SAME RECEPTORS as normal vitamin A, and gives similar side effects to normal vitamin A
Conclusion
Accutane has a stronger correlation with premature epiphyseal closure than is currently thought
Suggestion
I do not mean to fear monger, accutane and understand how severe acne can effect someones life, but if I knew all of this, I wouldn't have gone on Accutane. Which is the most probable cause that closed my growth plates so early(at least in wrist and hand, I don't know about femur, tibia, and spine). If ur goal is to keep ur growth plates open as long as possible its a safer option to avoid Accutane.
