Been on accutane for 1.5 months, (before and after pic) and have noticed shallow scarring as the inflammation has majorly subsided. Are these scars permanent or will they eventually flatten out over the course of accutane? If not how can I fix this?

how you feel?
That’s pretty normal on Accutane... Once the inflammation goes down underlying texture-scars become more visible. At 1.5 months it’s still wayyyy too early to judge the final result. Some shallow scars and marks can improve over the next few months as your skin heals and collagen remodels, but Accutane itself usually won’t fully remove indented scars. Obviously..

For now just focus on finishing treatment moisturizing well, sunscreen and not picking. If scars are still there after you’re done, treatments like microneedling or laser usually help the most. (Mark as solution):owo:

Fixing acne scars after Accutane (isotretinoin) usually requires professional dermatological treatments like laser resurfacing, microneedling, or chemical peels once your skin has recovered, which typically takes about 30 days after stopping the medication.

Early intervention within four months of finishing treatment is often most effective for remodeling new scars.Effective Treatments for Post-Accutane Scars

Fractional Laser Therapy (CO2 or Erbium): These are considered highly effective for smoothing shallow atrophic (depressed) scars by stimulating collagen production.

Microneedling: Promotes collagen production to improve texture.

Chemical Peels/CROSS Technique: Good for surface texture, discoloration, and ice-pick scars.Subcision and Fillers: Used for deeper "rolling" scars, breaking up tethered skin.

Vascular Lasers: Specifically targeted at red, persistent acne marks (PIE - Post-Inflammatory Erythema).

Important Considerations

Wait Time: While some low-dose patients may start treatments sooner, it is usually advised to wait at least 30 days post-Accutane to allow the drug to clear your system.

Gentle Skincare: Continue using gentle, hydrating products (e.g., Avene Thermal Spring Water) to maintain skin barrier health.

Consult a Dermatologist: A specialist can determine the best method based on your specific scar type (atrophic vs. hypertrophic).

Scar Massage: For raised or stubborn scars, regular, daily gentle massaging for 10 minutes can sometimes help improve their appearance, says Vinmec.

Generally what I’ve read when researching myself, sounds pretty accurate. What are your opinions on bio oil for healing scarring? Post accutane (probably)
