I really doubt he is guiding the doctor mid surgery on what to do. He uses custom plates using his licensed precision system. It tells the surgeon exactly where to cut using the guides. I would guess that if he were to be held liable for practicing medicine it would be that he isnt qualified to design those guides? But that seems like a little bit of a stretch.

Design guidelines only would be far less problematic. Idk if that’s legit or not but it’s no where near as egregious. Ultimately doctors can generally ignore guidance even from the FDA.

I do not think that designing implants or guides, or being the maxfacs assistant during the surgery, is the main issue. To be honest, he seems very talented in the field. He has innovated a lot, and from what I am aware even designed his own OBO technique. Even though he is not a medically licensed maxfac, he appears to know more than some who are in some aspects. I do not think his business is morally wrong, although there may still be legal concerns.

What is clearly wrong is how he communicates with patients and how he handles surgery scheduling. I think that is the main issue here, not the technical side of how he runs his business.

If I simply rushed and did every request in a few hours I probably could do all the cases I did last year in a few weeks. I’m not interested in that. I have so much work to do with my own partners and my own patients where I have much more responsibility in their planning/design and need to focus solely on that.

he says he is pissed at the unprofessionalism of Liam and that he doesn't care if they cut ties as he can work alone no problem. He also said designer are being way overrated nowadays and that in his opinion a good surgeon who knows how to place implants is more useful.
I still would never get my trimax being designed by a random with a CAD program.
The surgeries are to take place though, there's no reason they should not.
