how long did it take for all swelling to be gone and where did the swelling stick for the longest time ?

I know some people will lose swelling a lot earlier and it also depends on how big of movements etc, but still which areas of the face took the longest ?

Oh shit when did you get it done? For me swelling came down (neck and side) during the 3rd week.

The front is still noticeably bloated, the parasal area and upper lip are looking like it will take a long time.

Do you have any numbness? I feel nothing on my lower right chin and lip.

I am like 7 weeks out, and yea most of the swelling around the neck etc is gone but the paranasal is pretty bad. Hope it goes away

Will be 3 months for me in about 2 weeks - same situation - jaw, neck, bruising etc is 'all gone' but puffy cheeks makes my nasolabial folds go absolutely death tier. I didn't get any impaction so hoping its swelling and not time to consider aqualyx for the fat pads.

How did yall afford bimax? any advice? i am 18 and in Uni, med school consumes quite a lot of time, i think public healthcare where i live covers orthognathic surgery but i doubt id be a good candidate for it

Wageslaving. That's it. No other miracles or anything like that.

Don't pause medschool for bimax, continue it and earn money during the semester breaks.

The surgeon and orthodontist are both important.

It's really the one maneuver that your average surgeon cannot do: CCW with a posterior downgraft.

If you don't require it, then feel free to go with public. However note that some of these surgeons are only concerned with bite and might only move you the bare minimum.

There's a surgeon where i live that is really blackpilled, he has worked with Raffaini and Coceancig, he looks like a psychopath though lol, im guessing he charges around $10K for the whole procedure, med school is going great but i don't know how much time i have until this shit ends up consuming me, i really need surgery

a few degrees CCWR + advancement, no genio. I think it was around 4-6mm at the ANS. Had segmental too, to tip incisors back to neutral. I was class 2 skeletal.

Okay. Hopefully the nasolabials go down more.

5 mm upper, 15 lower, 5 degree ccw
Depending on how much of the maxilla movement is coming from linear projection and how much is coming from ccw it is possible for nasolabial folds to worsen after bimax.

In cases of maxilla movements where there is high ccw and with negligible amounts of the movement coming from linear advancement, there is the risk of the face "folding" as the most posterior part of the maxilla technically goes backwards when you rotate CCW.

It is possible, during the healing process, for some excess fibrosis to occur in the paranasal area which can weigh on the folds a little bit. This can be remediated with massages, steroid shots, or surgical scar revision depending on severity.

That said, 5 degrees ccw is not that much and I don't know how much of the 5mm maxilla movement was derived solely from the ccw and how much from linear advancement. At only 7 weeks you can expect them to improve a lot more.

It was 5 mm forward at ans, but yea my plates where placed in the paranasal region so it might be because of that also the paranasal looks even worse now. Ots hard to say. I thought paranasal mostly becomes worse when you do impaction and remove bones which folds the face, otherwise ccw without inpaction only adds height to the maxilla. Making to much downgraft can also cause a gap at the paranasal making nasalfolds worse. But yea its hard, ots also about the skin redraping which depends on elasticity of skin and thickness. For some the skin become more lose permanentley and doesnt redrape over the the area again which is what i am mostly scared off.

Dont worry too much for a while. At 7 weeks you have a ton of swelling left.

I felt like a bowling ball until 6-7 months
I kept noticing changed up through 15 months

It goes down so gradually that after a time, you think it's all "gone" but there's still more left

IDeally rhino and fat grafting in the undereye region. But at the same time rhinoplasty swelling would be brutal because it would be revision and fatgraft i dont know how safe it is
