Alright, so you've voted and it's split between holiday (just funding for two people) and mortgage. What should I do?

What should I do?

Previous thread:

However, we've travelled extensively across Europe.... and we all think travelling to Europe again is a waste of money. We are reluctant to visit Europe again.

Original post:
I was attempting to book a flight to Tokyo (stopover in Seoul via Istanbul) but Dad walked in my bedroom and sat down, and said I've worked very hard with keeping and maintaining my savings for the last 2 and a half years and not spending a thing, and it would be disappointing to drop the money on a holiday even though I'd only be funding half of the trip. The girl I'm seeing and want to make my wife wants to come and she's paying for her family's portion but only if I confirm the trip.

He said "up to you but if I were you I'd put that money for a mortgage deposit so you can get a very big house".

"Get married, get a mortgage, then go with your wife."

He said I could also book the tickets and hotel for him and me only, and leave out my sister and mother, but he'd strongly recommend saving the money.

If I take the whole family I could be spending in the teens to early 20s in thousands depending on spending money. If I take me and my dad only it would be drastically cut to 7-8K total (roughly 4-5K for the baseline costs).

I have not travelled overseas for 4 years.

I've got about 40K in my bank account. Fuck taxes.

Thoughts?

Go back to a muslim country.

nah, you keep saying that but you never will.
I'm so close to buying the trip. £2601 including hotels, flights and rail pass for both me and my dad... it's tempting. (stopover in Amsterdam)

Just save the money and get the mortgage, the trip will be more enjoyable when it’s with your wife
Currently I have 40K saved up and we will have a spending limit. Once I get married we're thinking of permanently moving out of the UK.
