Am I doing lateral raises wrong?

Yesterday I did them for the first time. I leaned my upper body a little bit forward and then raised the only 6kg dumbells diagonally away from me without surpassing my level of my shoulders a lot.

Today I only feel fatigeness in my upper trap muscle

and no fatigue in my mid delt at all 😕

What am I doing wrong??

i dont feel fatigue in my delts after the gym ever, its just slightly sore if i push on it hard enough. you may be doing it wrong cuz 6kg for a first time gym goer is lowkey impressive if u are low weight

Push your scapula down and focus on lifting with your side delt

i like to get my side delts pre exhausted a lil bit by doing light weight for high reps, improves mind muscle connection for me and i almost never feel it in my traps. i use cables but still applies

too much wegiht if you feel it in your traps and not your shoulders
go lower

i think if you wanna make sure you have right form and arent using traps you could do them seated and first with the left hand and then the right hand

its normal not feeling the targeted muscle when doing excercices for the first time

cheat code for me is rotate your wrists slightly so you pinky finger is tilted up

It was around 4kg-6kg and im 58 kg bodyweight
 
Try flexing your lats a bit, that automatically disengages the traps. Also low weight high reps before as a warm up.

Okay I did 3 sets of 8 reps is that good? or should i change how many sets and reps?
no thats actually very good
focus on form and also dont drop the weight on your way down do it slow and controlled so like 1 or 2 seconds up and 3 seconds down

Make sure to, if you do one arm, keep the other on the shoulder so you don't use your traps, and protract the scapula as well.
Me doing it with cheating, still never feel traps:

if youre upper traps are being exerted then either one of two things, your form is incorrect causing the traps to get involved, or the weight youre using is too heavy
