I agree. The only pro that I see here is the social interaction, but there are a lot of cons as well. The food quality is bad from what I hear, you need a car to go to places (unless you live in a big city), etc. And for me, the biggest con is the way teachers are treated, not just by the students but also the administration and wider society itself. I lurk on r/teachers and see all the things they’re complaining about. I wouldn’t want to deal with that.

i was taking a trip to new york, but there was a hurricane (hurricane Helene) that stopped us from visiting.
so we stayed in asheville instead, its pretty shite, its way more expensive than the city im originally from somehow? and its homeless population was also worse than where im from which is shocking considering i live in a place thats considered expensive and riddled with homeless people.

the day after we left, asheville got destroyed completely by hurricane helene

Yeah, it's really fun, because it's simply on a different level of culture and civilization compared to Europe in general, like you can't even compare the 2, that's why people seem more open, relaxed, extroverted / carefree, while Europeans wherever they are, they rush to get somewhere, to do something / they ignore you / they are cold / they look at you strangely because you bother them / you approach, like they live in constant stress and survival mode..

Also people are much richer on average, eat better (in the sense of not healthy maybe, but they can afford more), live in bigger houses / have a much better quality of life in general in everyday life, because they also have greater financial security from higher incomes. A large and important city in Europe is like the equivalent of a small whatever town in America, so yeah..

If you make the average American live our European lifestyle, where you have to use public transportation/bicycle more than your personal car because the infrastructure is shit/the expenses of a personal car are too high for your trash income, where you live your whole life in an apartment with a few dozen square meters with 1-2 rooms (when he is used to houses of 200-300 square meters + yard/garden/garage, etc.), etc. he probably won't last long before committing suicide..
