This is how the conversation usually goes:
Hey man what do you do for a living? You don't seem to be from around hwre
I tell them. Yea, I am from India and I work in DevOps.
Their face shifts to confusion Oh, whatโ€™s that? Is that something in IT?
I nod Yeah, sort of. Itโ€™s a part of the tech industry.
Then comes the next question Which company?
I name the company, and suddenly there's a flicker of recognition Oh yeah, Iโ€™ve heard of that one. Big name. Very well known.
Then they ask Whereโ€™s your office located?
I tell them. And right at that moment, I can almost see the energy drain from their face the smile fading, eyebrows raised slightly.
Damn, you work there? Must be making a lot of money then.
They force a chuckle, toss out a quick Good for you, manโ€ฆ good for you and then walk away.

Itโ€™s strange. The tone always changes after that part like the conversation stops being casual and starts feeling awkward.

55 dollars an hour. If converted full time around $115,000/year
That's good money, you'd never make that in Europe. The US is a great destination if you plan on moneymaxxing. For example, back when I studied nursing and wanted to become a male nurse, I discovered that in the US, a starting nurse can make $90,000/year. Let's see if that's still the case.... *googles* alright, so it's now around $95,000. While in The Netherlands, a nurse makes around $45,000/year only. Probably even less, actually, after taxes. Basically, it'd take around 3 years of work here in The Netherlands to make what you make right now in the United States. Crazy, right?

Im actually trying to look for jobs in europe. I dont mind the lower pay as long as thr place is somewhat affordable. Most houses start at 3 million dollars. Millionaire is middle class in California

Impressive, I'm guessing this isn't the highest either?
In the UK you can become a "partner".. not the equity kind, but it's the highest role after having promotions In your company
Takes around 20 years, and the good companies pay around ยฃ500k

Which countries are you considering? I haven't looked into it much, TBH. I agree that lower pay but more comfortable life is better; I'd never move to the US.

Europe tech is cucked, though. At least in Finland. You really need to be in some special position to make even that money. Maybe in Germany, Switzerland it's not so bad.

It could be that theyre looking down on

indian guy with accent, not even a citizen of the USA

in their mind you're suppose to be inferior to them

so when they see you doing better they feel some sort of way about it.

Well itโ€™s true but I think itโ€™s common knowledge that south Asians are VERY WEALTHY, like itโ€™s just a given itโ€™s legit a stereotype if a person is curry heโ€™s prob rich.

Even my black friends when curries come up in discussion we always say โ€œwell they make big money though so there is thatโ€ itโ€™s srs not unusual for south Asians to make money not impressive itโ€™s like chinks and cumskin.

People are only impressed with blacks, Latinos and Arabs when they make money (non sultan sheikh prince Arabs lol)
