This thread should be in Best of the Best because most raters don’t know how to rate properly. Some people might say "water is wet" when viewing this thread, but some people still don't understand this concept.

I’m tired of people calculating "harmony" by taking the front harmony score, doubling it, then adding the side view score in some weird formula. It makes no sense. They clearly don’t understand how angles work.

Let’s say a guy is:
  • 5/10 from the front
  • 7/10 from the side
He’s not a “5.67/10” overall. That’s dumb. He’s a 5 when you see him front-on and a 7 when you see him from the side. Simple.

That’s why some people look amazing in side shots, but ugly when they face the camera. Their front angle is weak even if their side profile is elite.

Stop overcomplicating things. Judge each angle by itself. That’s how real-life perception works. You don’t stare at someone and mentally average their angles — you just see the angle in front of you. If you see the person in front of you and they have good frontal harmony, and you are viewing them from the front, you will think they are beautiful. But let's say they have a bad side profile; when you see it, you will cringe and think they are super ugly. Basically facial attractiveness is fluctuating in your mind based on the angle you are viewing them from unless they have very good development overall.

Let me give you a real world example. This is going to sound very ND, but keep with me.

I showed one of my female coworkers some pictures of Theo James. I first showed her his side profile. She told me that he is the one of the most handsome men she's ever seen (when someone has this reaction we can assume that the dentofacial development from the side is practically flawless). I then showed her the front and she said that he's handsome but it was followed up by a comment of "why are his eyes so close together". She didn't take both of the harmony scores and add them up in some weird formula. No, she assessed the profile that was apparent to her at the time.

That's why you can view a girl at one angle and think that she is the most beautiful girl you've ever seen, but when you view her from the side you get that cringe feeling. But then you see her front profile again and you get another dopamine hit. It's because you assess what is apparent to you at the time.

imo, the most important angles, in order, are...

1. The front profile

The reason this angle is number one is because when someone is communicating with you, you are both going to be looking at each other face to face. As we all know face to face interaction is the most personal interaction you can have because that's how humans communicate with each other. Nobody turns their head and communicates with another person, unless you're retarded.

When you are in a relationship with a women you will have turn your head to face her and talk to her intimately. Same with business interactions, everyday interactions, etc. That's why it matters the most imo, and is the most personal/intimate angle to view someone from.

2. 7/8 Profile

This is probably the angle you'll view people at the most. At this angle frontal profile aesthetics dominate and a little bit of the Ramus and Forward Growth becomes apparent. The Zygomaticomaxillary Arch Depth/Height are viewed at a different angle at this point and cheekbones become more and more important as you approach the 3/4 profile. This is debatably number 1 since people will view you at this angle the most.

3. 3/4 Profile + 5/8 Profile

These profiles are pretty much the same. At these angles side profile aesthetics begin to dominate more. This is the profile where features such as maxillary and mandibular forward growth become more important. A sunken upper maxilla will absolutely destroy facial aesthetics if your other phenotypical features don't allow for it. The zygomatic arch will still be very important from this angle. People will see you in this angle a fair amount but it doesn't matter as much as the front and 7/8 profile imo.

4. The side profile

Important, but not as important as the front. Makes you more approachable in theory, but people will cringe if you have a bad front profile.

The interaction will look something like this...

A women sees a man sitting at a coffee table; he has very good dentofacial development so she decides to approach him and ask for his number. When the man turns to look at her she is caught off-guard by his 53mm IPD. At this point it's over unless all his other features are top tier and compensate for the very narrow IPD. She went from thinking he was the man of her dreams to never wanting to see him again. Brutal.

With the side profile, the main features that become more apparent are Forward Growth, Upper Maxilla Projection, Occlusal Plane Angle/Mandibular Plane Angle, Eye Setness, Supraorbital Ridge, Infraorbital Projection, Cheekbone Projection, Ramus Height, Cranium Height and Depth, Occipital Bone Flatness, etc.

You could use this guide to fraud your tinder, but lets be honest here. When she views you from your bad frontal profile, in real life, she is going to be repulsed.

Thanks for reading.

P.S. Some of the features that harmonize with a white face might not harmonize well with another race, so looksmaxxing for your features is going to look different depending on the race you are. A feature on a white man's side profile might not look harmonious with a black man's side profile and vice versa.

First Edit: Basically, facial attractiveness fluctuates along with the angle you're viewing the face from so it would be stupid to reduce it down to one number.
