yeah, there's trigeminal nerve feedback on the surface of the nasal mucosa, both turbinate and septal. Sometimes when they reduce the size of the nose they reduce the size of the turbinates and straighten the septum which necessitates digging under the mucosa in some fashion. Sometimes they use radiofrequency to destroy capacitance vessels to reduce turbinates and this can cause nerve damage too. regardless, the end result is less sensation of airflow which in severe cases can result in the brain not recognizing that air is coming in and a permanent feeling of suffocation.

It could also be that the airflow through your nose has changed and the air is no longer hitting the sweet spots on the mucosa that you are accustomed to.
