Ukraine gave up it's nuclear weapons and gets invaded by Russia 3 decades later.

They weren't their nuclear weapons, its a misconception, the nuclear codes were in the hands of the Moscow government, so there were technically nobodies nuclear weapons when the soviet union fell, but because Russia had the codes they went to Russia
