my stepbrother got RPE at 19 and he ascended hard, the biggest pro is he’s basically immune to lense distortion now
what kind did he get. if its boneborn thats a diff story than OPs question

It depends if your sutures are open or not, usually they will be….

yeah i guess, they are probably open, maybe they arent even fusing hopefully

the on in the pic is teethborn wich sucks.
yeah obviously, cuz boneborn has to be put by an ortho, while teethborn is not
teethborn is still pretty effective if sutures are open no?
And i have braces rn, ill cute the wire in the middle and im gucci right

but im not sure what happens with the lower jaw after if you expand too quick
thats why im looking into a slow palate expander

slow palate expander sucks unless you are 11-12
most of the times unless your lower jaw is very narrow (rare), its fine

lmk if you get it
also if you look it up there is ones that are like $30 to purchase
i mean to be fair you probably dont want to cheap out for an expander but its just a piece of metal with some screws tbf

Doesn't advance your maxilla.
How many times does this have to be impressed on users here?
You'd want your ortho to set you up with one if you want a wider palate.

Bro go to an actual orthodontist.

You may get it free depending on insurance I think. I had a pallet expander and braces when I was young, completely free.

I’m all for doing shit yourself, but you’ll probably fuck yourself over with this.

ortho will do the same job as ill do, its not complicated.
This does advance the maxilla, when maxilla gets wider, it goes sligthly forward

you think so? i only need to have suture open or mildly open
i think you will get results if they are open/partley open. if ur 16 it really depends tbh

what is your imw rn?

An orthodontists is qualified and will make sure the fit is correct among other things.

Minimally.

dude i know, but my palate is not THAT narrow, i just need more maxilla development, my IM distance is average, but my skull is very above average, so 42mm is not the best.
I asked my ortho already, but she wont give me a palate expander cuz she says at my age it wont work.
even tho she didnt made any scans
so its mostly a gamble to see if my suture are open or not.

dude its just a retainer, it will always fit correctly if its done well, and im getting an impression kit to get it done well by a company (same way orthos do)
yes its minimal advancement, but if you combine it with a reverse headgear, or something that style it will give even more development

No reverse-head gear does barely anything post 12 years old.

ortho def would not give you
yeah i know, thats why im doing it myself, hopefully im early, cuz if im not i would need to get mse/marpe, and dont know how i would convince ortho to do it

is this better than the Y-Plate / 3-Way Schwarz?

..... reverse headgear works if combined with mse/rpe/sarpe
theres multiple studies about this, and it has been talked here multiple times too
theres pictures of befores and afters too

I'm sorry, there's no data that replicates the kind of movement seen in children aged 6-12.
We're talking maybe a couple of measly milimeters at most.

Here's an actual study proving minimal change post 12 on Google Scholar:

Skeletal effects of early treatment of Class III malocclusion with maxillary expansion and face-mask therapy

Conclusion:

Treatment of Class III malocclusion with maxillary expansion and a face mask in the early mixed dentitioninduced more favorable changes in the craniofacial skeleton compared with similar treatment started in the latemixed dentition. In particular, effective forward displacement of maxillary structures was achieved as an outcome of early treatment, whereas the late-treatment group showed no significant improvement in maxillary growth with respect to matched untreated controls.

just like any retainer lol
are you retarded? a palate expander gets drilled and screwed into the top of your mouth, you dont just fucking slot it in jfl

interesting, maybe they used less strength elastics, im using 24oz ones
and im getting on igf1 roids, so maybe it will help my case.
I'll archive everything here, hopefully ortho lets me get an xray before and after 1 year.
Lets see how it goes, its not like im a taking a big loss.
Thanks for the study

Yes, archive all.
Good luck on your journey although I suspect advancement will be minimal.
