Apparently MARPE lengthens the midface ???

According to JawHacks MARPE can vertically lengthen the midface, which seems to make sense looking at the above GIF.

Also, he states that the ratio of expansion to vertical gain can be up to 2:1, so a 10mm expansion yields a vertical gain of 5mm.

@RealSurgerymax is this true and have you seen this in your own cases?

If true, this could actually ascend me without having to get an lf1 downgraft.

Only downsides is wider nose (which I was gonna fix with an alarplasty anyway) and a minor increase in ipd.


Any thoughts on this other high iq users?

I mean specifically vertical lengthening, I always assumed it only resulted in lateral expansion. Is this already well known?

Well there’s a limit on how much u can expand and also depends how much of a downgraft you really need

Tbh I only need 3-4 mm of downgraft, so if that’s doable using MARPE it’s life fuel.
