It will be a shame if it turns out I need pre-surgical orthodontics, but it is what it is. I will be fucking pissed at my dentist if that is the case, given that I have been seeing private dentists since I was born (NHS ones don't exist) and not a single one has even proposed the idea of getting braces. So either all my dentists over 21 years have been incompetent, or my teeth are fine.

Anyone know whether I will need orthodontics (braces) before surgery? I know I will find out in like a week through the appointment but I am too impatient and autistic.

Your skull is very similar to mine. Unfortunately i need ortho before bimax:feelswhy:

Not true, look into 'Surgery First', if you have fine occlusion then you don't need ortho

Yeah maybe in super rare cases you don’t need ortho at all that’s true but I haven’t seen a single case of that yet.
Thing is, if your occlusion is fine you probably shouldn’t get jaw surgery anyway (if you didn’t have camouflage orthodontics that is).

Interesting thread for me as I would like to get ortho before fully committing to bimax but I’m not sure if the “bimax “ ortho path is differ from the “fix my smile” ortho path.

I didn’t, but the surgery didn’t correct my bite, keep the same

In my case I wasn’t bother with my bite, so I preferred to keep my bite and not use braces

lifefuel, I don't care about my bite either I never even knew I had malocclusion my entire life, and my dentist has never even told me in 21 years, it was only when I saw a maxfac in london that he let me know
