Are braces a temporary looksmin?

I’m 17, HTN and I gotta wear braces for 2 years in order to be able to get orthognatic surgery. The braces and the surgery is covered by insurance, so I just pay for the planning of the surgery. The thing is, won’t braces be a temporary looksmin? I gotta wear them until 19, so my teenage years will be over by than. Is it worth it wearing them at all?
