Are elastics for braces gonna impact facial aesthetics negatively?

Just wanna know, because my orthodontist(?) gave me them for overbite treatment (or whatever they do) and I read its the most important phase of treatment, but is there any chance they negatively impact face? Sorry, have no idea on this thing. Ty

instead advence the lower jaw forward
