Are fake-tans/self-tanner legit?

In one side they make you look tan without cancer sunrays but it’s a pain in the ass to apply it every week and it sometimes looks fake and maybe even girls see it as tryhard?
Anyone got experience with it or thinks it’s legit?

I’m taking beta carotene with astaxanthin for 4 days now and saw slight improvements
Might have to apply retin a

Best trick is to apply retinA instead of suncream before tanning. Just go in the sun for a couple of hours, with some 1% retin A. Will get you perfect slight high class tan.

Literally just walk for 2 hours a day, 7 days a week. I do that and I went from reasonably pale -> brown.
