I was talking to the blue eyed pothwari mirpuri co worker and he was saying how pothwari people that live in mirpur are from Afghanistan originally but moved to mirpur area. I was saying that no you are Punjabi people that moved to mirpur and that your not even Kashmiri( they kept insisting they’re Kashmiri) Which I said you speak pothwari which is a dialect of Punjabi literally the same and Kashmiri people speak gojri and other languages but they kept saying that they are not punjabi. I then said that the live right next to the border between punjab and Azad Kashmir and that there isnt a difference in a border but then he says tgat you have to go around punjab to get into Azad Kashmir so that made me think That maybe they’re not ethnically Punjabi…..? Also is there any validity to him saying they’re from Afghanistan a looong time ago? @TRUE_CEL @justinzayn @LiteralCaucasian @Ryan @Shrek2OnDvD @ascendedd @SunniMogger

Also, no, there are no Afghans in Mirpur. He is wrong. He may be an Afghan immigrant but if he does not know about his roots or speak the Afghan language with his family then he is just a Panjabi who is LARPing as Afghan.

First time I have heard of this.

Yeah some deluded guy really contradicted me. Mirpuris are either Kashmiri or Panjabi. If someone from Mirpur speaks Kashmiri then he is ethnic Kashmiri. If someone from Mirpur speaks Panjabi then he is ethnic Panjabi. Most people in Mirpur speak Panjabi. Ethnic Kashmiris mostly live in IOJ&K.

But which Potahar mountains are you talking about? Potihar is a large area. What is the genetics if these people? Are they panjabi or what?

idk if they r punjabi or not but they haven't migrated from Afghanistan. They, in no way, resemble any Pakistani pashtun, let alone an Afghan

Pothoharis identify as Panjabis. Some try to cope and say they’re not. But I notice it’s the darker ones who say they’re not Panjabis. The lighter ones proudly claim to be Panjabis.
