Are retainers bad?

Are retainers bad? Do they cause recession? I remember seeing post about them (or maybe it was invisalign, I do not temeber) being bad and causing recession.

Uhh, I don't think so? If anything they are probably better than braces simply because you have more freedom with them. Why would retainers cause recession if they are designed perfectly for you to align your teeth? I don't know a whole lot about retainers but I wear invisalign and they seem to do the job excellent - in terms of my teeth getting more aligned
