How can you be religious when you see how cruel and unequal life is, and how little fairness exists in the world. People suffer for reasons that have nothing to do with their choices, and others succeed because they were born into the right conditions. Religion tries to turn this chaos into a story, giving people the idea that everything happens for a reason, but the world itself does not behave like that. Belief becomes a way to make injustice feel intentional rather than random.

You only need to look at the world to see how this plays out. The countries that struggle the most, the ones facing poverty, instability, and constant uncertainty, are often the most religious. People turn to belief because they need something that makes their suffering feel bearable. When life is harsh, religion becomes a way to feel protected, even when nothing around them suggests they are. It is a human response to fear, not evidence of a higher plan.

Once you see this clearly, the structure becomes transparent. Religion is a human invention designed to soften the edges of existence, giving people comfort and direction when the world refuses to offer either. It creates the feeling of being watched over, even when nothing in life suggests that is happening. The real question is not whether someone is religious, but whether they need the illusion.

TLDR: Religion is a cope that makes a cruel and unequal world feel planned and meaningful.

I envy those who can fully believe in their god but I can’t just bring myself to to accept it

Same but its obvious that god isnt real due to the problem of evil and epicurean paradox, basically what u said in ur post that the world is fucked

Also there are illogical things in every religion like the arc of noah in christianity and islam just being a pedo weirdo religion

Christianity is pretty logical except for some of the stories in old testament which made me start doubting and eventually not believe anymore

It doesn’t matter how smart you think your argument is, in your world view your whole identity and personhood is already blasted into nothingness right now in the inevitability of it, so all apparent rational thought is equal to irrational thought.

The self image you construct of being a tough enough person to see the true harshness of reality is also giving yourself the illusion of meaning.

You're right that everything collapses into nothingness eventually, but that doesn't make my reasoning meaningless, it just means I'm not pretending my thoughts come from anything objective or eternal.

My problem is you presuppose to know what it means to believe in God by simplifying it into a religion construct.

If you admit that even the suffering and inequality in the world collapses into nothingness, while rationally God only is from eternity, and upholds eternity in the future that is outside of time, then suffering no longer becomes an obvious argument why God doesn’t exist.

I’m not reducing belief in God to religion, I’m saying that pointing to suffering as evidence for or against God only works if you assume morality is objective, and I don’t.

You said “How can you be religious when you see how cruel and unequal life is, and how little fairness exists in the world.”

I’m actually agreeing with you in “fair” being an illusion in this present world, anyone can see it, but when you said religion is to soften the edges of existence that includes that, i disprove it be showing that God as experienced is not necessarily a seperate numbing delusion towards it.

Death is the snake eating its own tail, reality is harsh but the harshness of itself collapses its own meaning.

And only Jesus Christ overcame death, by being the prefect reflection of God in righteousness within the fallen state of the world.

If fairness and meaning collapse, how can you claim Jesus “overcame” anything in an objective sense?

I didn’t say fairness and meaning collapses of themselves, within life and time fairness is collapsed, and with death meaning towards fairness within time collapses, therefore overcoming death (through righteousness) is restoration of both fairness and meaning.

This is all highly rational and structural.
