Are your eyes supposed to look worse after waking up?

Like do they look smaller and less symmetrical? The same happens when you come out of a dark room that you've been in for a while, such as a movie theater. It messes up your eye area for an hour or so. I heard placing a warm towel over your eyes can speed up this process as it reduces the water buildup

I do not think so, actually it's the opposite, when I wake up my eye looks smaller in height and bigger in width, and at day's time the sclera appears a little more.
