The main copes, as Reddit will happily explain, are 1) free healthcare and 2) good public transport

1) free healthcare actually sucks in my experience. Demand far exceeds supply so you have to wait a million years to see someone who is overworked, underpaid and will try to get rid of you asap without doing a proper job. The age demographics are top heavy so a large chunk of the resources of these countries are being used to keep 90 year old vegetables alive instead of stimulating the economy. Plus, countries without free healthcare have health insurance/coverage included with jobs, so it's typically not even an additional expense for them

2) public transport is a solution for a problem you shouldn't have (excluding major cities). It's just far more convenient, more efficient and more pleasant for everyone to travel by car to where they need to go.

The US has entire suburbs structured around cars, like kids can’t even play outside cos it’s just road. They take up stupid amounts of space due to the need for parking spaces + they make cities smell like poop.
