Astaxanthin and beta carotene

Is there any sides to taking beta carotene and astaxanthin?
I 've read the former can cause vitamin A overdose which basically fucks your liver and your hair
And the latter fucks with androgen receptors.

That's if you eat obsessive amounts. if people can drink 3 beers a day for 60+ years.... 3 large carrots isn't going to kill you haha.
