Good-looking men may be at a disadvantage when applying for certain jobs, according to research from University College London’s School of Management.

The researchers found that in competitive work environments, such as sales departments, physically attractive men applying for promotions are more likely be discriminated against, as male colleagues are more likely to perceive them as a potential threat.

However, in collaborative environments, such as research and development, handsome men are at an advantage, as their colleagues expect to share their success.

UCL’s Sun Young Lee, who led the study, commented that: “Managers are affected by stereotypes and make hiring decisions to serve their own self-interests so organizations may not get the most competent candidates.

“With more companies involving employees in recruitment processes, this important point needs attention. Awareness that hiring is affected by potential work relationships and stereotyping tendencies can help organizations improve their selection processes.”

Dr Lee did not find an equivalent effect for good-looking women. She believes this is because female attractiveness is not associated with professional competence.

Eva Sierminska has written for IZA World of Labor about the earning premium associated with being attractive. She finds that, particularly in customer-facing jobs, good-looking people are likely to earn more, and that this is more the case for men than it is for women.

Sierminska writes that: “Policies to counter such discrimination are being introduced in a number of countries, but if they do not take into account the channels through which physical appearance is affecting labor market outcomes—such as employer discrimination, customer discrimination, productivity, and occupational sorting—they may fail to achieve their goals.”

Actually this is really interesting.

It's still better to be attractive at a baseline level, but a chad/chadlite/htn can game the system. In competitive environments they can temporarily make themselves uglier on purpose while in collaborative environments they don't have to.

As a rule of thumb 👍

Good looking males will fare well with female HR and fuck up with MTN male and below HR.

Stacies will do well with literally any kind of male HR (unless bitter inkwell:feelshah:) and fuck up against most female HR unless friends or feminist allies. (Stacies don't want competition, MTBs are already insecure...maybe LTBs will help you in hopes you give them a favor later on)

very true.

Every job I had, men in management would give me dirty looks, sabotage my reputation, or try to stifle my progress. Same happened to guys I knew who were good looking or did well with women

These management role men always had shitty, back stabbing personalities.

One of them I overheard had erectile dysfunction and a boil or tumor on his neck the size of a lime

Other had a cleft lip and a lisps.

Another had weird stringy upright hair like in Eraserhead

One had a giant fat pad behind his neck and looked like the warthog from TMNT

Another was in the closet and told me he couldn’t get hard when he was sleeping with this really attractive women.

All seemed like they hated their personal lives so they’d use work to have some semblance of control, either of themselves or of others

I also would never kiss ass or suck up to these people. If you’re good looking it’s best to work in an environment with similar looks levels.

Or just stay to yourself and realize these men and sometimes women have to develop these shitty, cutthroat personalities to garner resources so that they could live with their copes or to be allowed to be a betabuxx

One time I told this blue pilled coworker that this other coworker hates me because his girlfriend was eyeing me up in front of him at a company outing. And the blue pilled coworker seemed like that stuff never happens and it’s probably in my head. Even though the other coworker was basically trying to start shit with me that night

I ended up getting fired for getting into a bad argument cause some other guy hated me cause his work wife and other women were flirting with me in front of him. Or they’d go out of their way to say hi to me. He’d talk shit to people that I’ve never even met and post things about me to make me look bad. He was ugly af too

As a rule of thumb I would never kiss ass. Period. It's so undignified whether you do it to a Chad or subhuman.

Only exception is if I'm like 95% sure I'll get some immediate benefit. A big benefit at that.

Yeah. Fuck man people can't be trusted.

Ehhh not his fault tbh.
I probably would have said the same thing years ago. Some people just believe in the goodness of humanity and shit like that.

Wtf? What kind of job is this? Jfl at people starting office politics over social interactions. This some high school shit.
Are you a chad?

Also jfl at 'work wife'.
She's not even really in a relationship with him right?

The term "work spouse" just seems to ridiculously.
At best its just cringe.
At worst it's disrespectful to their actual spouse.

Can’t really say, it’s a pretty big company. But I did get severance pay as long as I signed a contract saying I wouldn’t sue

And he was a grown man who was like 30 and had a 12 year old daughter. Acting like he’s in hs

They’d eat lunch together and once I saw him tickling her at work. I heard they had a thing but she looked like a hoe with tattoos and piercings. He’s probably someone she can rely on in case she needs a beta buxxer

I felt bad for him. It’s like he knew something was wrong with his view on life and instead of trying to figure it out, he’d rather attack me
